Following our comments (emailed to attendees directly, 2 December)
regarding the proposed changes to Working for Families, we are advised
from various parts of the country that the IRD does not consider that
the $1 salary position will be backdated. There are accordingly
differing views on this. We have sought clarification from our local
IRD office. If and when we get a reply we will update this site.
In the interim we suggest that you take a conservative approach and
pay the $1 salary if possible until the law is enacted and a policy is
formalised.
